A poem I wrote.
Pretty much every time I am working on a poem I come back to think of this one elusive one I wish to write. I have been trying to capture into words the joyfully overwhelming and all enveloping sensory explosion of the first night as a mother, a mother – me – looking down and holding her son for the first few times. I am not sure I will ever really crack it and actually I am not sure I really want to. It’s just too big, too magical and other worldly to try to lay on a page. This poem ‘The Start’ is for and to Arthur and it is my nod to that night, my hat off bowing in reverence to such an incredible time, thankful to the cast involved and all the amazing players.
